Due to high call and email volume during the run-up to the Annual Report and Business Personal Property Return filing deadline on April 15, 2022, wait times to speak with an SDAT representative may be extended and responses to general inquiry emails submitted to SDAT may not be returned
until after the April 15 deadline.
If you have questions about the Annual Report or Business Personal Property Return, SDAT strongly encourages you to to file a free two month extension request that will update your filing deadline to June 15, 2022. Extension requests submitted online are automatically approved and processed after submission.

Online Reassessment Appeal: Use this
ONLINE FILING FORM to appeal your assessment notice within 45 days of the notice date. For more information on the assessment process read the
online brochure. Properties in Maryland are reassessed on a three year rolling cycle; you may view reassessment maps for each county and the
local office contact information.
All appeals for SDAT's Real Property offices are to be written or conducted as telephone or video conferencing appeal hearings.

SDAT is pleased to announce that all of our Real Property offices are fully open to the public. Click

We are working diligently on exciting upgrades and changes to the customer service area of our State Center location on Preston Street, including a convenient and user-friendly appointment scheduling system. SDAT continues to strongly encourage customers to use its comprehensive online filing system for the following services:
Business and Personal Property transactions and
Homeowners’,
Renters’ and
Homestead Tax Credit application filings.
Please be advised that SDAT will continue dropbox service in the lobby of 301 West Preston Street for customers seeking $425 expedited service. No more than five Charter Filings may be submitted per customer/firm/courier per day between 7:45am and 10:00am. Documents and payment must be placed in a sealed envelope that clearly identifies a point of contact's name, email, and phone number, and all filings must include payment for the $425 expedited fee
in addition to the base filing fee. If these procedures are not followed or the filing is rejected, same-day service is not guaranteed.
While SDAT strongly encourages filers to submit the Annual Report online through Maryland Business Express, Annual Reports and Business Personal Property Returns may be hand delivered to the drop boxes located in the lobby of 301 West Preston Street between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday
through Friday. Please ensure that all hand delivered Annual Reports are placed in an envelope with applicable filing fees. Annual Reports are considered filed on the day delivered to the dropbox and do not require additional expediting fees.
Acknowledgement letters, certified copies and good standing certificates for approved filings will be placed on the dropbox by 4:30 PM for customer pickup the same day the approved filing is dropped off.
