​The Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation (also known as the State Department of Assessments and Taxation, or SDAT) is a customer-focused agency that works to ensure property is accurately assessed, business records are appropriately maintained, and necessary tax-related information is conveyed to state agencies and local jurisdictions. The Department's responsibilities can generally be split into three main areas:

If you received an assessment notice and feel the Total Market Value on your notice does not reflect the market value of your property, you may use this form to file your appeal.  Please be advised ​of the new and improved format​​ of the 2025 assessment notices.​

Maryland Saves

You may be eligible to have your annual filing fee waived! To determine if your business has been exempted from the 2024 Annual Report fee, please check the followi​ng list of SDAT IDs compiled by Maryland Saves as approved for the fee exemption. The deadline to earn the fee exemption for the 2024 Annual Report through Maryland Saves was December 1, 2023. Please visit the MarylandSaves homepage for more information regarding enrollment in the program and how to earn the Annual Report fee exemption for the 2025 Annual Report.

Annual Report Filing Requirements

Please be advised that, on advice of SDA​T's Assistant Attorney General's Office, effecti​ve January 1, 2021, all legal domestic and foreign entities will be required to file all past-due Annual Reports revive, reinstate, re-register, or re-qualify with the Department, with the exception of any Maryland Religious corporation or any foreign or domestic non-stock corporation which did not hold business personal property. Per Md. Code, Corps. & Ass'ns 53-509(b), Maryland religious and all non-stock
corporations must file the lesser of all missing Form 1s, or 7 years' worth.​
