The Tax-Property Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, Article 2-213 provides that the Department of Assessments & Taxation make copies of property (tax) maps available to the public at a reasonable fee that reflects the cost of reproduction. The following procedure should accommodate the aforesaid requirements.

Effective July 1, 1996, the Maryland Department of Planning is responsible for tax map production.  Their Data Services Division is responsible for maintaining and generating paper tax maps for the 23 counties in Maryland. (Baltimore City provides their own maps) The Department of Assessments and Taxation no longer accepts requests for full size map copies.

Full size map copies may be obtained by contacting the Maryland Office of Planning, Planning Data Services Division at 301 West Preston Street, Room 1101, Baltimore MD, 21201; (410)-767-1420; or visiting their website at http://planning.maryland.gov/Pages/OurProducts/PropertyMapProducts/PaperTaxMaps.aspx.

The Department of Assessments and Taxation will only provide 8 1/2" x 11" photocopies of a portion of a map to the general public. Persons requesting multiple 8 1/2" x 11" portions of a map are to be advised of the availability to purchase a full size map.  Copies will be produced from the offices’ public reference set only. The maps from that set will be folded to accommodate the photocopy machine and paper size.

The use of copiers outside the assessment office is forbidden, unless that office normally shares equipment with another agency at the same location.

There is no fee for a copy of one section of a property map. Additional sections are $1 and $0.25 for each additional copy of that section.  Generic receipts obtained from a local stationery store will be used for each sale. Instructions for handling of money from map sales will be issued by the Department of Assessments & Taxation, Accounting Section.
