The purpose of this procedure is to initiate a uniform data processing coding system that will identify accounts where current use and zoning are not identical. The five (5) metro counties will take steps to identify these accounts within their own data processing systems. In order to identify these accounts in the "ADS" System, the following uniform system will be established. The first character used in the present five (5) bytes available in the field identified for zoning will be as follows:

Residential R   Industrial I
Agricultural A   Apartment M
Commercial C   Condominium U

In the case of multiple or split zoning, the primary zoning classification is only identified by one of these codes. The identification of multiple zoning for an account is accomplished by placing a "M" in the one (1) byte (MZI) multiple zoning indicator field. Both zoning classifications are to be recorded on the field card.

The "ADS" Counties, while not required, may identify their individual zoning classifications with the remaining four (4) bytes in the zoning field. The abbreviations used for these variations of the local zoning classifications are to follow and correspond to the aforementioned six (6) general classifications.
